Environmental Health Service from the Hyde County Health Department

Hyde County Health Department ensures the health and safety of residents while reducing the threat of the spread of communicable diseases through evaluation and education of environmental health policies and regulations.

On-Site Water Protection Program

On-site evaluations, governed by the state and local rules (and ordinances), are performed to determine if a site is suitable or marginal to support a septic system for utilization by the community and/or individual families.

Water and Sewage Inspections

Evaluations are completed on-site, including existing system inspections, repair permits, and alternative and conventional system improvement permits.

Public Management Entity (PME)

Bi-annual assessments, inspections and maintenance of innovative and experimental septic systems.  Upon site evaluation and if the system is failing, the Hyde County Health Department is notified. Recommendations are then made to improve the performance of the system.
