Communicable diseases are
diseases that can be spread from person to
person and sometimes from animals to people.
The
goals of the communicable disease program are to
reduce the spread and limit the adverse effects
of infectious diseases within our community.
Some of the programs we target include the
following:
Tuberculosis Program
The Tuberculosis
(TB) program provides testing and treatment.
Skin testing is provided at a minimal charge.
Certain populations receive skin tests for free. Medicines for TB are free of charge. Our staff
is responsible for:
- Detecting
new cases of tuberculosis.

Investigating the potential source(s) of the
illness.
- Ensuring
proper medical care and treatment of the
patient.
- Providing
screening and follow-up to other individuals
who may have been exposed.

Sexually Transmitted
Disease Program
The sexually
transmitted disease (STD) program provides
testing and treatment for diseases like
syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, and other
sexually transmitted diseases. Services are
free and consist of:
- Diagnosis
and treatment
- Follow-up
of infected persons and their sex partners
for testing and treatment as appropriate
- HIV testing
and counseling
