Well Child Checks from the Hyde County Health Department

Well-child checks are provided for all children from birth to 21 years of age.  Services are available for routine well-child checks, kindergarten physicals, Head Start and other childcare physicals, sports physicals, and camp physicals.

Well-child checks include routine physical exams, lab tests (i.e., hemoglobin or iron checks, blood lead levels, etc.), immunizations, developmental screenings, growth measurements, vision and hearing screenings, and nutritional evaluations.

Children should receive well-child checks at the following ages:

  • Within the first month of life
  • 2 months
  • 4 months
  • 6 months
  • 9 months
  • 12 months (1 year)
  • 18 months
  • 2 years
  • 3 years
  • 4 years
  • 5 years
  • then every 3 years for children 6 years and older.

The Hyde County Health Department can serve your child for well-child checks as a pediatrician or family doctor would.  However, we do not offer services for children when they are sick at this time.
