
Well-child checks are
provided for all children from birth to 21 years
of age. Services are available for routine
well-child checks, kindergarten physicals, Head
Start and other childcare physicals, sports
physicals, and camp physicals.
Well-child checks include
routine physical exams, lab tests (i.e.,
hemoglobin or iron checks, blood lead levels,
etc.), immunizations, developmental screenings,
growth measurements, vision and hearing
screenings, and nutritional evaluations.

Children should
receive well-child checks at the following ages:
- Within the
first month of life
- 2 months
- 4 months
- 6 months
- 9 months
- 12 months
(1 year)
- 18 months
- 2 years
- 3 years
- 4 years
- 5 years
- then every
3 years for children 6 years and older.
The Hyde County
Health Department can serve your child for
well-child checks as a pediatrician or family
doctor would. However, we do not offer services
for children when they are sick at this time.
